Police arrest six for hacking demat account
PTI | Jul 1, 2011, 11.11am ISTNEW DELHI: Delhi police have busted a gang of demat account hackers by arresting six perons in connection with a forgery and cheating of Rs 94 lakhs.Police have also recovered Rs 3.49 lakh cash, three cars and other valuable articles, including a plot worth Rs 24 lakh from the possession of accused. The complaint in the case was lodged by one Vimlesh Mittal, resident of Alakhnanda, who had said that she received a demat confirmation statement in month of April-May 2011 from integrated Securities Ltd and she found that all her shares worth Rs 94 lakhs were sold without her knowledge.
When she approached the company, she was told that some persons might have impersonated her to cheat and fraudulently sell her shares.
She came to know that the sale proceeds were credited to the account which is being maintained with ICICI bank in Chandigrah Sector-9 in her name by some unknown person.
Police arrested Yogesh Kumar, earlier employed with Intergrated Enterprises Ltd, and his five associates including Kulvinder, Mandeep, Manjit and Varun Chhabra.
They had opened a account in ICICI Bank Chandigarh in the name of Vimlesh Mittal and managed to sell the shares and got an amount of Rs 94 lakh, they said.

Let me get personal, for a minute. My account took nearly two months to function. That is to say, i was investigated as if I was a criminal. Not kidding. I am an American of Indian origin. Whatever term you prefer to choose. Take a pick. NRI. Desi. ABCD. Diaspora. American Dunce. The last one is used most fiercely by the RSS hoodlums. The fact is this so called "private Bank," in India sucks. The day one. "How may I help you ,Sir?" The first question asked by one Sikh gentleman, oops, a soldier and a gentleman, of Sikh religion. "I want to open an account here, (Nashik, my hometown, @ 'sarkarwada,' oops, 'munshipalTi waadaa,' oops, Nashik Metrololitan Municipal Offices, Nashik-1) ' "Do you have your funds in any of the several nationalized or anti-national banks, Sir?" The answer: Most certainly. Q: "Which one in particular?" A: The State Bank of India. Q: I am waiting. A: Wait a minute. Q: I ain't got time. A: Me too. The End.

I do agree about ICICI Bank. It really surprises me about the growth of the bank. But my experience is really bad and I closed my account. It is a place to be cheated or for Cheater.

Dey murder: 'Chhota Rajan gave lead to cops about shooters'
Vijay V Singh, TNN | Jul 1, 2011, 11.48am ISTRead more:J Dey|Gangster Chhota Rajan
MUMBAI: Gangster Chhota Rajan himself provided details of the shooters of the slain journalist , J Dey, to the police, if sources in the force are to be believed. Several officers, who were part of the murder probe, said Rajan had done this earlier as well, primarily to ensure that his men would not be shot dead by the police in encounters. Immediately after J Dey was shot dead by motorcycle-borne accused on June 11, the police said, the entire force started hunting for clues and put pressure on big gangsters to provide them with a lead. The police reportedly even threatened that if the underworld dons failed to help them, they would have to "act sternly" against the gangs in the city. Rajan, who got the message, revealed the names of some of his men to ensure that they were not killed in encounters during the hunt for J Dey's killers and the gangster also specified the condition to officials, a source said. The crime branch then reportedly worked on the details and traced the shooters to different locations.
The two units, which were credited with solving the killing, the property cell and Unit VI of the crime branch, however, claimed that they had not received any tip from Rajan. "Our groundwork and old-time informers helped us crack the case," said an officer who was part of the team that nabbed the accused. However, going by what officers of other wings had to say, Rajan wanted the members of his gang to be inside prisons, where they could be safe as well as strengthen his influence. After his close associate, D K Rao, was released from jail, no senior member of the gang was lodged inside prisons-where gangsters allegedly flex their muscles and build their network-and he wanted to change the scene. "The assured safety of a trusted member of the gang, Kalia, and his presence inside jail where he can recruit new criminals, prompted Rajan to do this," an officer said.
A part of the Rajan gang for a decade, Satish Kalia, who claimed to have fired on J Dey, was in the squad Rajan sent to Pakistan to kill underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The very fact that after his arrest, Kalia showed his face to the media ensured that he would play an important role in the trial. "The defence lawyer can now claim that an identification parade would be flawed as his face was now widely known," a legal expert said. "This is the very reason why the police do not allow criminals to show their faces."

A fantastic angle, may be Bollywood take a pick from this story. Yes, life outside jail has become very risky, so it is better to be inside the jail, particularly if one has a threat to his life. Another angle, which this story projects is even more interesting. This people going to jail for recruiting support. What a fantastic legal system we have developed in the country. Culprits are punished to facilitate generation of more culprits.

Does this mean only a weak case would be construed and the culprits cool their heals inside to build and strengthen their network? Is this the reason why the Prosecution lost the case in a gruesome murder case, where the culprit is likely to walk out shortly?

The foreign authors, in their novels about crime, government & corruption, corporates, espionage work, underworld operations, terrorist organizations, banana republics, court functioning etc. etc.give so much lucid details that a regular reader of these books have so much knowledge about the practical world that we live in.
