Rajan suspected Dey was giving info to Chhota Shakeel: Sources
Slain senior crime reporter of the Midday, Jyotirmoy Dey.
Rajan also suspected that during his recent trip to England, Dey had met an aide of his biggest rival Dawood Ibrahim - Iqbal Mirchi - who handles the fugitive criminal-turned-terrorist's business in London. The police have, however, denied any such meeting.
During Dey's trip, he had broken away from the scheduled programme in London to meet somebody. Police were yet to ascertain the identity of the mystery man.
Dey had gone on a 10-day trip organised by Raj Travels last month for which he paid Rs 45,000 in cash and an equal amount by cheque. Police have summoned Raj Travels officials for questioning in the case.
Rajan was alarmed over this supposed meeting between Mirchi and Dey, as he thought that the latter was passing on information regarding him to Shakeel.
After returning from England, Dey was also planning a trip to Philippines to meet Rajan and the latter feared it was a set up to bump him off. To prevent this, he got Dey killed, sources said. On the day of his murder, Dey had couriered documents related to his visa for Philippines to a Filipino tourism official in New Delhi.
Over the phone, Dey had requested Rajan for a meeting during his trip to Philippines.
Police were also scanning Dey's four e-mail accounts. In one of his mails, Dey had said "I am meeting that man". It was written while he was planning the trip to Philippines. The Mumbai Police's crime branch suspects that the "man" referred by Dey was Rajan.
Dey was shot dead on June 11 while he was riding towards his home on a motorcycle. Acting under pressure after a series of protests, the Mumbai Police had on Monday claimed to solve the case and arrested seven people involved in the crime. They had, however, failed to elaborate the motive behind the murder.

'Rajan suspected Dey leaked info to D-gang'
Let this be a lesson to Anna Hazare et al. Also the Indian media, without whose generous help Annamaniacs and Bababozos would not have seen a day of name and fame, oops, instant fame. In my opinion, merely a blip on the human shenanigans rough seas. I have nothing against Anna nor have any issue with his so called muddled, oops, middle class, grass roots porters, oops supporters, coolies and computer/technology coolies. Let them have whatever they want. India is a free country. Any person can dream, scheme, have a Rave party, make money, lots of money, legally and illegally and enjoy the fruits of their labors, oops, con games. Why do we always blame the professional con artists? For instance, the so called underworld mafia of Bombay, oops, Mumbai. They are no different than the alleged common criminals such as A Raja, Kanimozhi, Real Estate Barons, such as Shahid Balwa, Goenka et al. They come of all kinds, shapes, religion and places. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
